Who Can Apply for RRC CR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Candidates must have passed Class 10 (or equivalent under 10+2) with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognised Board.
They must also hold a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT, or a Provisional NTC issued by NCVT/SCVT.
Engineering graduates and diploma holders are NOT eligible. They are covered by a separate apprenticeship scheme, so they should not apply here.
Candidates already undergoing or who have completed apprenticeship training should not apply. Each candidate can apply for only one cluster, giving unit preferences within that cluster only.
Multiple applications from the same candidate will lead to summary rejection of all applications. Candidates must choose their cluster carefully before applying.

Candidates must be between 15 and 24 years of age as on 03 November 2026. Age relaxation applies for reserved categories.
SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates 3 years, and PwBD candidates 10 years. Ex-servicemen get up to 10 years, based on their defence service plus 3 years.

RRC CR Act Apprentice Salary
Selected apprentices receive a stipend of Rs 9,600 per month.
This applies to National/State Certificate holders, as per Railway Board letter RBE No. 116/2025 dated 11/11/2025.
Training lasts one year for all trades. No hostel accommodation is provided.
This is apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, not a permanent railway job. It confers no right to absorption or employment afterwards.
Selection Process
There is no written examination and no interview. Selection is purely merit-based, followed by document verification and a medical examination.
Step 1: Online Application
Candidates submit the application online through the RRC CR portal. Only one cluster can be chosen, with unit preferences within that cluster.
Step 2: Merit List
The merit list uses the simple average of the matriculation percentage and the ITI marks in the trade applied for.
For ITI marks, the average in the consolidated marksheet for all semesters, or the Provisional NTC, is used.
The merit list is prepared cluster-wise, unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise. In a tie, the older candidate is preferred.
Step 3: Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification at their opted division or unit.
They must produce original testimonials and a medical certificate in the Annexure VII format, signed by a Government-authorised doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State hospital.
Without it, document verification will not be held and the candidature will be cancelled. Selected candidates must also sign a Contract of Apprenticeship.
Step 4: Medical Examination
Candidates must meet the medical fitness standards for the trade. No TA/DA is paid for document verification.
Documents Required
- SSC (10th) or equivalent marksheet
- Proof of date of birth (10th certificate/marksheet or school leaving certificate)
- Consolidated ITI marksheet for all semesters, or Provisional NTC indicating marks

- Disability certificate (PwBD, if applicable)

- Aadhaar number (12 digits) at registration, or 28-digit enrolment ID if the card has not been received. Candidates from J&K, Meghalaya and Assam may use voter ID, passport or driving licence instead.
- Medical certificate in Annexure VII format, for document verification
