As per Vacancy Notice No. 2 dated 3 November 2026, issued against Advertisement No. CC/04/2025, a total of 319 vacancies are available in the Electrical, Civil and Computer Science disciplines.

Out of the 319 vacancies, 309 are regular vacancies and 10 are backlog vacancies. Candidates should note that although the original advertisement also mentioned the Electronics discipline, there are no Electronics (EC) vacancies in the final vacancy notice, so applications are invited only for Electrical, Civil and Computer Science.
Who Can Apply for POWERGRID Engineer Trainee Recruitment
Candidates who have completed a full-time B.E., B.Tech or B.Sc (Engineering) degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institute with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA can apply. For SC, ST and PwBD candidates applying against reserved posts, pass marks in the qualifying degree are sufficient.
A valid score in the corresponding GATE 2026 paper (EE, CE or CS) is compulsory. GATE 2025 or earlier scores will not be considered for this recruitment.
Age Limit
The upper age limit is 28 years as on 31 December 2025. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for OBC (NCL), SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories as per Government of India directives mentioned in the advertisement.
POWERGRID Engineer Trainee Salary
Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of ₹40,000–3%–1,40,000 (IDA) during the one-year training period, with a basic pay of ₹40,000 per month along with IDA, HRA and perks. On successful completion of training, candidates will be absorbed as Engineer in the E2 grade in the pay scale of ₹50,000–3%–1,60,000 (IDA), in addition to allowances and benefits as per company rules.
Selection Process
The selection process for POWERGRID Engineer Trainee consists of the following stages:
1. GATE 2026 Marks
Candidates will be shortlisted for the group discussion and interview on the basis of their normalized marks obtained in the corresponding GATE 2026 paper. GATE marks carry 85% weightage in the final merit.
2. Group Discussion
Shortlisted candidates will participate in a group discussion, which carries 3% weightage. The group discussion is qualifying in nature as per the norms given in the advertisement.
3. Personal Interview
The personal interview carries 12% weightage. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of GATE 2026 marks (85%), group discussion (3%) and personal interview (12%).
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹500, which is non-refundable. SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and departmental candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.
