Technical Assistant covers 11 disciplines, led by Electronics (12), Mechanical (4) and Instrumentation (4). Technician ‘B’ covers 12 trades, led by Electronics (10), Electronics Mechanic (8) and Instrumentation (6).
Category-wise reservation for UR, OBC (NCL), SC, ST and EWS is given post-wise and trade-wise in the advertisement. PwBD and Ex-Servicemen reservation is applied on a horizontal basis.
Who Can Apply for SCL Mohali Recruitment 2026?
Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. Qualification and experience are counted as on the closing date, 30 November 2026.
For Technical Assistant, candidates need a First Class 3-year full-time Diploma in the relevant discipline. A First Class B.Sc. / BCA is also accepted for Electronics, Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry posts, as stated in the advertisement.
For Technician ‘B’, candidates need Matriculation / SSLC plus a 2-year ITI (NCVT) in the relevant trade, or a National Apprenticeship Certificate / National Trade Certificate in that trade.
Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’ posts also need 2 years of post-qualification experience in an R&D institute, reputed organisation or industry.
For officer posts, candidates need a Graduate or Post Graduate degree, or an MBA in the relevant field, with the stated experience. For Junior Personal Assistant, candidates need 12th Pass with dictation at 80 words per minute for 10 minutes.
A candidate cannot apply for more than one administrative post. A candidate may apply for both Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’, with a separate application and fee for each post.
Age Limit
The age limit is counted as on the closing date for receipt of online applications. The cut-off date remains 30 November 2026 even if the closing date is extended.

Age relaxation is 5 years for SC / ST and 3 years for OBC (NCL). For PwBD candidates, it is 10 years for unreserved, 13 years for OBC and 15 years for SC / ST.
SCL Mohali Salary
Pay ranges from Level 3 to Level 10 of the 7th CPC, plus DA, HRA and Transport Allowance. Employees are governed by the National Pension System (NPS).

Selection Process
The Computer Based Test will be held at New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
The Skill Test and Personal Interview will be held at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) / Chandigarh only.
Computer Based Test
For Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’, the CBT has Part-A with 100 questions and Part-B, the curriculum-based trade test, with 100 questions. The total duration is 120 minutes, and each wrong answer carries negative marking of 0.25 marks.

For officer posts, the CBT follows the same Part-A and Part-B pattern. For Junior Personal Assistant, the CBT has only Part-A, with 100 questions, 100 marks and 60 minutes duration.
Skill Test / Personal Interview
Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’ candidates who qualify in the CBT are called for a trade-wise Skill Test, which is only qualifying in nature. Final selection for these posts is based on CBT marks of candidates who qualify in the Skill Test.
For officer posts, candidates shortlisted from the CBT are called for a Personal Interview, with CBT and interview weightage of 60:40. For Junior Personal Assistant, selection is based on CBT marks, subject to qualifying in the stenography Skill Test of 800 words at 80 words per minute in 10 minutes.

Candidates must upload a recent passport-size photograph, signature and left thumb impression in the online application. Each file should be not more than 50 KB in size.

Application Fee
The examination fee has a refundable application fee and a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 600 for all posts. All candidates have to pay the full fee at the time of applying.
